Il trovatore at the Budapest Summer Festival
RICCARDO MASSI TO STAR AS MANRICO IN IL TROVATORE AT THE BUDAPEST SUMMER FESTIVAL
On July 28 and 30, 2017 Riccardo Massi will star as Manrico in Il trovatore at the Budapest Summer Festival in a production by László Vámos conducted by Balázs Kocsár. Alongside him Dinara Alieva will sing the role of Leonora, Mihály Kálmándy that of Count of Luna and Ildikó Komlósi will be Azucena.
“Manrico is one of the many beautiful gifts Verdi has given to tenors, its most expressive writing is full of passion and urgency: everything about this opera is about pace, timing and phrasing”, states the Italian tenor. “This character embodies all that I admire in Verdi’s writing for a tenor. Il trovatore is an essential opera both regarding the orchestration and the action on stage, leading the soloists very exposed from every point of view.”
After this performance of Il trovatore, Riccardo Massi will perform Don José in Carmen for his debut at the Los Angeles Opera, Radames in Aida at the Hong Kong Opera, Foresto in Attila (role debut) at the Lyon Opera and at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Royal Opera House London, the Hamburg Staatsoper and the Palm Beach Opera.
